Entry ticket/s are available to purchase for your pupil/s via Eventbrite (see below). 1 entry ticket per pupil.
Upload videos of your pupils performing the relevant Set Dance via our secure platform by 9th October 2020. Details of where to upload your videos will be included on your order confirmation.
Finalists will be announced and will be emailed on Saturday 31st October 2020.
All participants will receive a certificate. Trophies will be given for winners only.
Entry Criteria / Rules
All competitors must be entered by an up to date / active Society member.
These competitions are for amateurs only. Anyone in full time training or teacher training is NOT allowed to enter.
A competitor is only allowed to dance in one category in each event - grade must be relevant to their age and standard.
Routines will be, and must be performed as, per those shown on the official Set Dance DVD 2020
For this event only, teachers may enter competitors for the category they were rehearsing for prior to the original Area Competitions being cancelled.
This competition will be adjudicated in Stages:
Stage 1 will be for those who wish to qualify but were unable to do so because of Area Competitions being cancelled.
Stage 2 will incorporate those who have already qualified at Area Competitions held earlier this year with those taken through from Stage 1 for the National Grand Finals
Competitors who have already qualified in Area competitions held previously this year will automatically be entered in to Stage 2 of this competition and will receive a different link to purchase their ticket.
Numbers must be worn on the front, you will be provided with a competitor number once tickets have been purchased (teachers to provide the relevant number for the pupil to wear). Please do NOT upload videos to the portal without your allocated number.
No logos or dance school branded clothing, any other practice dancewear / street wear is acceptable.
Competitors full body must be clearly visible on the recording throughout.
Routines to be danced three times through without a break.
No coaching / assistance allowed other than counting in at the beginning of the music.
Suitable footwear for Street Dance and Rock 'n' Roll is compulsory.
No make-up for Under 10s, simple make-up for Over 10s is permitted.
Health & Safety
Safe Dance Practice / Floor craft are paramount.
Teachers should ensure their dancers warm up beforehand and perform the dances in a safe way, which will not cause injury, ensuring the area chosen to dance is suitable and clear from any obstructions.
For security reasons, it is preferable that teachers use a recording device with a (preferably password protected) memory card. If teachers choose to use a mobile device, the footage should be uploaded immediately to the secure link provided by the Society. Once the competitor has been filmed and the footage transferred, this should be deleted from the mobile device.

Upon purchase of tickets and checking of eligibility, teachers will receive a link to upload their competitor’s videos securely.
It is of paramount importance that the video is of good visual quality and that the music can be heard.
Videos of poor quality may result in your entry not being considered for the competition. Indoor recordings are preferable.
Please ensure the competitor number is clearly visible at all times.
Teachers may count their competitor in to begin the routine but this should not be audible on the recording.
Competitors should announce their number ONLY, not their name.
When uploading please title your video with the following information: School name, Set Dance Event, Competitor number.
Terms & Conditions
Anyone competing in this online event does so at their own risk. The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing, will not accept any responsibility for any injury or situation.
Teachers are responsible for obtaining written consent from parents / carers / guardians before submitting their video/s.
Principals & Teachers – Please ensure all teachers involved in preparing pupils for the competition, are fully aware of and understand the competition rules. The integrity of the teacher is relied upon to ensure that the rules are followed by all participants to enable the smooth running of the event.
All video entries will be deleted by Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing within 10 working days of the final announcements except those of the event’s winners which will be kept on file for 18 months.
Only Society members / teachers are permitted to submit the entry video via the link provided.
The Adjudicators decision is final.
The DFR faculty would like to produce a promotional video of the finalists to display via our various digital media channels. Please ensure that your pupils are aware and have agreed for video footage to be used for this purpose.
